Introduction
The Tourism and Hospitality industry is challenging and fun, but it also makes demands on you and your fellow workers. Working life in this new millennium has many more drivers than the industry of even 10 years ago. Workers in the industry value their time and seek enriching experiences as much as the customers do.
Also, most importantly, as the owner/manager you have to look after yourself as, without you, the business may fail.
In this skill section we will consider some of the important drivers acting upon your business, e.g.
- worker's aspirations regarding leisure and leisure time
- the demands of the "new" tourist
We then address how you can acknowledge these drivers and take action to achieve the "right" (if there is such a thing) work/life balance for you and your co-workers/team.
